Selfie- Color Mode Excercise

Uncompressed file size:1.49 M

The size of the file is bigger than the other files below because the picture went through more channels of colors.














 

Color Mode: Indexed Color 

 # colors: 12
Uncompressed file size: 509.1 K
















Color Mode: Greyscale 

# Colors: 256
Uncompressed file size: 509.1 K

The color mode above (IX) and this one are the same size because both of them wen through the same channels of colors.

Color Mode: Bitmap 

 # Colors: 2
Uncompressed file size: 63.8 K

This file size is the smallest because it only went through two color channels.

Color Mode: 

Can You change FILE FORMT just by changing it's name? 

No you can't. It will corrupt the file and confuse the computer.

How many colors are in the following COLOR MODES?

RGB: 16.7 million
INDEXED COLOR: 265 and less
GREYSCALE: 256
BITMAP: 2

What happens to the (uncompressed) FILE SIZE as you change the COLOR MODES? 

The amount of data changes in the file.

What happens to the visual quality of images as you REDUCE the number of colors by changing the color code?

You lose quality and data from the image.

What is a good reason to convert PSD files to JPG?

Delivering the image/posting/sharing.
